Ascend Performance Materials to develop new loading facilities for hexamine

Ascend Performance Materials announced today it will commission a new bulk loading facility for deliveries of the company’s liquid hexamine product, FlexaTram™-HMT, beginning in April.

“Ascend has historically operated North America’s largest hexamine production plant at its Chocolate Bayou facility near Alvin, Texas, for captive use. Our new capabilities expand our footprint and allow us to serve more customers throughout North America,” said Finlay Morrison, vice president for specialty chemicals at Ascend.

Ascend’s FlexaTram-HMT offerings available at the new loading facility will include FlexaTram-HMT 100 (low concentration) and FlexaTram-HMT 200 (high concentration). Both products are a part of Ascend’s growing specialty chemical portfolio.

“The development of this new capability will allow us to support the increasing demand for hexamine in the resurging resin-coated proppant market while complementing our existing sales to customers in the foundry space,” added Ben Vaughn, product manager for FlexaTram-HMT.

Ascend has spent the last six months qualifying its FlexaTram-HMT products. The company expects customer shipments to begin in April.

Ascend’s specialty chemicals division manufactures FlexaTrac™ acids and esters, FlexaTram™ amines and FlexaTril™ nitriles. The company also offers several signature products, including Hexatran™, Hextranol™, Prionil™ and Trinohex™.
