奥升德关怀基金会向国际仁人家园 (Humanity house) 捐赠房屋

The Ascend Cares Foundation, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of leading materials manufacturer Ascend Performance Materials, announced today the donation of a Habitat for Humanity house from Ascend’s Greenwood site in South Carolina. This is the second house built by the Greenwood employees.

The Ascend Cares Foundation broke ground for the Habitat for Humanity house on Sept. 15, 2017. Since its completion, more than 100 volunteers have worked on the house.

“One of the unique things about this project is that the Ascend Cares Foundation funds and builds its own Habitat for Humanity house,” said Phil McDivitt, president and CEO of Ascend Performance Materials. “We build the house off grade, move it and put the finishing touches on at its final location. The house was built from start to finish at our Greenwood site. Having the home-build physically located at our site makes it easy for our employees to volunteer and allows them to see their progress every day when they come to work.”

“Habitat for Humanity is an organization that can provide great benefits to a community,” said Matt Chapman, maintenance planner for Ascend’s Greenwood site, who helped lead the efforts for the construction of the house. “With this being our second house, I’ve enjoyed working with the Greenwood site volunteers and Habitat for Humanity in Greenwood. It’s tremendously moving to see the families get the keys to the house.”

The Ascend Cares Foundation has completed five Habitat for Humanity houses over the past five years. The company has built and dedicated other Habitat houses at their sites in Alvin, Texas and Decatur, Alabama.

“I’m so proud of the time and hard work that our employees gave to build this house,” said Hal McCord, Ascend’s site leader in Greenwood. “Now that the house is complete, it gives everyone a true sense of pride and accomplishment for what they’ve done to help our community.”

The Ascend Cares Foundation was founded in 2011 and is managed by team members of Ascend Performance Materials. It is financed through a combination of individual contributions and matching company funds.
